Hash Raises $3,000 for Samoa Lifeline

Monday, 6 October 2008 - The Apia Hash House Harriers presented a check for $3,000 to Fa'ataua le Ola, also known as Samoa Lifeline. Samoa Lifeline operates a 24 hour phone service to assist those in distress. They are dedicated to preventing suicide in Samoa.

The check was presented during this week's Hash Run. The funds were raised during the Regional Hash and Jazz Fest Dinner.

The check was presented by the Grandmaster, Eveready. The director and two of her colleagues accepted the donation on behalf of the organization. She expressed Samoa Lifeline's appreciation for the gift. With a heartfelt thanks bringing tears to many, she thanked the Hash for choosing to help their organization. She briefed the runners on the history of suicide in Samoa and Samoa's recent success in reducing suicides. There have been 12 suicides so far this year.
