Hash Trash - Run 1465 Mother's Day

This run was held at the marvellous Matareva Beach, soon to be the venue for some shite American reality show. For some real reality, Snake and some of the hash kids together with Will, were dispatched to set a trail through the surroundings. Late arrivals meant that the run was started via cellphone. As can be seen from the photos provided by Gabor, it was a leisurely start along the sandy track, then an arrow pointed us across the beach towards the mangroves and jungle. That’s when reality bit. Scratching vines, moss covered stones and difficulty in spotting the flour piles made progress slower, then slowed it right down. The hares had found some nearly impossible crossings and first down to his waist in the mud was Poumuli, rapidly followed by Avril, Selena and others. The cursing was by now reaching internationally unacceptable standards. After some crawling and getting more wet, we finally found the On Home marker and re-crossed the beach. A nice dip, and cleaning off, in the blue sea.

There were a lot of absent hashers, so your assistant trainee scribe stepped in as temporary informal GM. There were no newcomers or re-threads. Celebrity Awards were given to Wahoo (her dad in the paper for the fishing tourney) and Poumuli (yet another climate change story). Poumuli recounted a dream involving a big ugly screeching mynah bird, after which he woke up to find that there was indeed a screeching bird in the house, so Dawn Raid took a Screeching Bird Award.

Ring Ring made a quick mistake in using real names in the circle, and Avril was given the Mexican Cursing Award for her innovative use of Spanish terms for private parts during the run. We all learned a few new ones. Crime was dobbed in for leaning.

As the circle had started Selena had started a barbeque that was clearly too small for the massive roast that she had brought so Godfather nominated her for a Hopeful Award. You can all see it in the photos – but as it turned out she managed to cook it, and it was delicious!

The Hares were called in for their award, and Fang was given the Nominal Host Award. As there were still a few full glasses left, Gabor, Will and Dawn Raid were given the Just For The Hell Of It Award.

Lets hope we have a better turnout next week. See you all then.

Hash Trash - Run 1464 Cinco de Mayo

And what a day this turned out to be. Your assistant trainee scribe turned up early for the run, and was corralled by Snake into helping set the run, since no other Hare had turned up. Given the paucity of geographical knowledge Snake drove, while the assistant trainee scribe tossed paper, until he was ordered to find a path up a rather steep hill. Well it was a pretty steep one, and the pack should have realized that while the run would be short, the obvious distress that the assistant trainee scribe was exhibiting should have been a warning. Off the pack went, only to find a devious false trail to start them off. The trail continued up towards the heights, following the road until a new cross was found. Then the fun started. The trail went pretty much straight up, and while there were plenty handholds, some of these were ripped out by the more weighty hashers. Some excellent photographs were taken of the ungainly progress, but almost all the pack made it up to the road above. A slight mislaying of the paper sent some front running bastards further up, but they quickly returned. Snake had opined that anyone taking the uphill road after that climb had to have rocks in their heads, so a down-down was not awarded after all. The trail back was an easy one and the pack gradually reassembled at Bora Bora restaurant.
The GM greeted the Hash Circle with a hearty bienvenido in honour of Cinco de Mayo, with a promise of some surprises in store. Three visitors to Hash were introduced – Will from NZ (here for 6 months), Jeena (local) and Sonny from NZ (here for 26 more hours), the latter expressing gratitude for finally losing his Hash virginity. The GM then called on Gabor to demonstrate how to do the tequila down-downs – this was the first surprise. The rethreads – Pussy Snatcher and Orgy Georgy – did their tequila down-downs to the Tequilla song, with Godfather’s ukulele accompanied by Gabor on saxophone. The Shoe Inspector AC/DC found our newcomer Sonny had new shoes, and these were liberally doused in beer for his consumption.

To protect the Hash from swine flu, the GM called on our only resident Mexican – Avril – to step forward and be cleansed in an exorcism carried out by Skankanavian.

Celebrity Awards were handed to Pussy Snatcher (for being in the Cook Islands News), and for stories in the Observer - Dawn Raid (tennis coaching), Heather (salsa dancing) and Poumuli (climate change press release). There was some confusion regarding the Chicken Award, as FBI had conveniently run away, so the GM picked up the pace with a You Don’t Eat That in the Cinema Award to SOTB, Lewinsky and Skankanavian, for eating McDonalds in Magik Cinema.

Sassygirl, in her role as Samoa’s tourism supremo, nominated Michael for the Terrorizing Tourists Award for his notorious singing. On a roll, she nominated Ring Ring and Hobbes for the I’m Not The F’ing Chef Award, as they had refused to muck in and fix the BBQ. MilkMe turned up late and took his tequila with a nod.

At this point the Hash Circle was becoming exceedingly rowdy. The wisdom of the tequila was certainly now in doubt, but the GM pressed on as he spotted FBI, sans chicken hat, and awarded FBI a Don’t Know Chicken Shit Award for losing the chicken hat. Skankanavian called for a Matching Bandana and Liking It Backwards Award to Double D and Delectable. As mentioned in the blog this run was to be in honour of Cinco de Mayo, and a strict colour code had been called for. Swinger, Hobbes and Will were thus singled out for not being able to read. Godfather, having recently returned from eye operations received a Let There Be Light Award. The rowdiness was now so bad that no one noticed AC/DC switching the tequila for beer and downing the tequila himself. This needs to be addressed…

For living up to his name on the trail, Slippery got the Slippery Award from Poumuli for going arse over tit down the slope. SOTB had been nominated on the blog by Mr Whippy for a Scribe (Delinquent) Award (should be for Excellence - see editor's note below), which he took with ill humour. POD nominated Michael for taking Un-lady-like Pictures, which your assistant trainee scribe hopes we will all soon enjoy on the blog. Finally, Heather called on Fang for leaning, but it backfired into a False Accusation. Nevertheless, she got Fang as Whipping Girl for the beer.

Poumuli and Snake took their Hares Award, and the Hash also warmly thanked the host – Dean of Bora Bora. Pussy Snatcher had a close call, as he was observed chatting up some girls in the circle. AC/DC provided even more grounds for an award as he was actually smooching his girl. Again, this needs to be addressed…

Next week is Mother’s Day, so the run may be set out at Matareva Beach.

On On,

Poumuli.

Editor's note: The award should be for excellence. SOTB stepped-up and ran the blog alone for much of Feb and Mar while Mr. Whippy was away.

Now You're Chattin'

The Grandmaster, Eveready gave the approval for us to upgrade our Chat Box (that box on the left hand side of our blog). Now you can exchange messages with Hashers in real-time! You should find this Chat Box even easier to use. There are additional features like a chat archive, name protection, and more… but will not bore you with the details. ‘Just enjoy the juiced chat box.

Give it a try. Stay in touch. Share the trash!!!

Next Weeks run will be our Cinco De Mayo Run at the Bora Bora Bar at the base of Mt Vaea and next to the Vaea Hotel.

On another note..Hash Mere's are to wear green and the Hash Men are to wear Red..and if you are confused...and don't know what to wear, then something white will do.

See you all there.

Hash Trash - Run 1463

The beautiful surroundings of Taumesina was the setting for this Hash, courtesy of our hosts Lewinsky, POD and Happy Feet with assistance from Farmer Joe. However, since SOTB was lead Hare with Lewinsky it soon became apparent that SOTB wanted us to pound pavements as well. As soon as we headed out of the gate, the heavens opened. By the time the trail was found, leading down Apia Park way we were all soaked to the core. Since there will be no whining on the trail, most hashers confined themselves to grumpy growling. Kiwi was upfront in the pack and he could sniff out the trickiest parts, although DawnRaid located the trail as it veered off Viala-Vini Road into Vaisigano. There he met several irate dogs, no doubt still irritated by the pungent sweat left by SOTB and Lewinsky. DawnRaid , JJ, Michael, Kiwi, Poumuli, and a few others decided on the Beach Road that the only possible trail would be towards the wharf and Vaiala Beach – and they were proven right. The trail then led along the shore past Vaiala, where an ingenious water trap had been found. Well, it was either wade through the 10 feet of water or risk the yapping little ankle biting bastard dogs that were guarding the bridge. Unfortunately, the cold water sapped many hashers of energy, so DawnRaid and JJ led the run back. They met up with latecomers who had not found the track – how come Gabor et al didn’t get down-downs?

Luckily the skies were now brightening, and Lewinsky’s seaside was a welcome respite for many swimming hashers.

There were many visitors to the Hash – Colin from the UK, Suzanne from Australia, Jean from NZ, Sid a long-time visitor from NZ, and several exchange students from USP. Your assistant trainee scribe only caught the names Annie, Margaret and Anoushka due to the loud protestations of several Hash babies. The rethreads were Byron and JJ. Luckily for JJ the GM did not interpret the Hash rules on wearing hats in the circle to include a baby.

AC/DC carried out his task as shoe inspector, and quickly identified Sassygirl’s as being entirely new, whereupon she had to drink from it. Poumuli received the Celebrity Award for linking banning of gay movies with the RHD switch in a letter to the newspaper.

Ray Charles had written a 2-page email to the GM regarding a 25 lb baby and circumcision. How he managed to glean a down-down for Lewinsky, SOTB and Poumuli out of that we will never know, but it happened. Hash Birthday Award went to Tony Blair and Salsa, which Gabor attempted to add Excuberant Dancing Award to, but failed. Sassygirl nominated BB for trying to get her into Tony Blair’s pool, then not getting into the pool herself, then not wanting to leave, etc. The “real” Gordon Ramsey was in the press recently for going broke, womanising and sundry sins, which our own Gordon Ramsey happily accepted with a down-down. He must be strenuously thanked for yet again grilling a whole pig for the Hash feed. Three leaning ladies were spotted by Snake for leaning, yet all of them managed to get whipping boys – Sid, Greg and Michael. In finishing his beer Greg liberally doused JJ’s unsuspecting daughter, resulting in an automatic Child Endangerment Award.

On the blog chat Sassygirl had promised Skankanavian that some hot guys would be at the Hash, and Skankanavian claimed she could see none at the Hash. She joined Sassygirl with a Disrespecting the Hotness of the GM Award. SOTB called for a Gas Sponsorship Award to Sid for providing a new tank for the Hash Grill.

Crown of Thorns was given the Sympathy and Hugs Award in honour of KuiKui getting engaged, just not to Crown of Thorns. Skankanavian was honoured by Lewinsky with a Sexy Award for her choice of dress for the Hash.

Crown of Thorns recounted how a couple of hashers had been in a jellyfish incident, and that the Hashman had refused to treat the Hashmere’s injury through the stipulated urination. So Nick received a Can’t Piss Award.

This week the Hash Monk did not miraculously appear. However, his close approximation, SOTB did the honours in naming Farmer Joe in a formal ceremony. As a cattle farmer of some stature, he will now be known as MilkMe.

The GM would up the ceremonies with awards for Gordon Ramsey and AC/DC for cooking, but did they give us swine flu? and the hosts and the hares. In addition we fare-welled Salsa and Guacamole. Final awards went to Lewinsky for confusing Farmer Joe with MilkMe and to Mr. Whippy and Poumuli for their blog-work. The GM also announced that the next Hash will be in honour of Cinco de Mayo (so we all have to wear green, white or red) and that the down-downs will be tequila! Good grief, that should be fun…

Poumuli

Editor's note 2 re blog work: SOTB stepped-up and ran the blog alone for much of Feb and Mar while Mr. Whippy was away. He should have joined us for the blog down-down.

Hash Trash - Run 1462

This is the first formal submission of the Hash Trash from your Assistant Trainee Scribe, so please bear with me. The run was hosted by Salsa and her Tito at Tony Blair and Selena’s house. Kiwi had gone out ahead to set the run and off the pack went in pursuit. The nice steady climb up the wooded path by the river was not a harbinger of things to come. A long way up we all of a sudden came to a cross, but only after several hashers had missed it and were checking across the river. We all turned back, and in an uncharacteristic display of macho bravery, Lewinsky even crossed the narrow dam to look for the trail, which he could not find. Convinced that Lewinsky was dumber than that, Snake set off to see for himself, only to find the trail possibilities to be too limited. Unbeknownst, Greg and Dawn Raid had set off up into the trees to scout out a possible trail, but returned before reaching the top. Poumuli and SOTB tried the same trail a few minutes later, but the paper was at least a 100 metres up according to Kiwi. All except SOTB received an Incompetence Award as a result later. At this stage the sun was going down, and a few other possible trails were explored, as the beautifully red and golden coloured light dappled through the leaves, creating a rather stunning setting for an ignoble return to the house for the baffled hashers.
Trouble was literally brewing. The keg kept giving off a foamy substance that was only minimally reminiscent of beer. Tino from Vailima had to be called in for an emergency operation, which was successful. However, he was wearing a Wadadli shirt – that is a sister brewery from Antigua in the Caribbean. Bit odd that…

Talk about slaving over a hot stove – Gordon Ramsey had been slow roasting a pig over coconut coals for 8 hours! That is true dedication to the Hash and the feeding thereof.

The hash circle was started with Bolivian precision – no one outside the circle, and a circle it had to be, as Selena ordered people to move. There was one newcomer – Misti who was a guest of Snake. Retreads included Farmer Joe, Mr. Whippy and Dawn Raid. There were no new shoes, so BB had to get a down, although she was later heard muttering dark curses at Dawn Raid for conveniently locking his shoes in the car. The Celebrity Award went to Sassygirl for telling the Government it was stupid on the front page of the Observer. She was joined by BB who had to act in proxy for Swinger – whose mum was also in the photo. She protested vigorously that this was unfair, as there was no official linkage. Whatever…. Sassygirl and SOTB got a second award because of Mr. Sass also being in the paper.

The GM recounted a story of a hash mere who lost her bikini at the Sinalei beach run , so both Selena and Tony Blair got a Stripper Award. This was compounded later, when it was discovered that Selena had also left her pistachio green socks in Gabor’s shoes that day. Gabor himself got the Bulging Tightpants Award.

Crash Bandicoot arrived late, and was brought up on charges for making Delicious cry on the phone from NZ. In addition to the Incompetence Award, Hobbes was awarded for getting his bulk stuck in the fence on the way home.

There was much hilarity and comment regarding the failing wardrobe of the GM, who eventually got the Tarzan Award for his bared nipple, courtesy of SOTB. The award that is, not the …

Sassygirl was on a roll at this point, calling and award for Bits & Pieces for his lack of sailing skills and endangerment of the public through a Hobie Cat, Tony Blair for his Narnia shirt, and she contributed to Dawn Raid getting a “What’s the point in talking to someone with their I-Pod on full blast” Award. Skankanavian was given the Hostile Takeover Award for stealthily acquiring boyfriends whose girls were absent.

At this point the Hash Monk miraculously appeared. Tito’s full name apparently has something to do with avocadoes, so he shall now be known as Guacamole. After blessing him with the traditional dowsing of flour, beer, paper and pig fat, the Hash Monk encouraged him and Salsa to go forth and make nachos. The GM called for the Hosts and the Hare, and then added a down down for Lewinsky on pure spite.

After the sumptuous feast or roast pork, Russian (yes, I wondered too?) curry, spicy chilli and salads, a birthday cake was brought out for Salsa and Tony Blair. The birthday songs were rendered in Spanish (well the Bolivian version at least), Dutch, Hungarian, English, Norwegian and Samoan.

A note to the Hash – FBI better show up with the Chicken Hat next time.

Poumuli.

Hash Trash - Run 1461

Well Godfather sure knows how to set a hash run for the ages. Imploring us at the start to take advantage of the Easter Weekend for the forgiveness of our sins, we set out on a trail that produces wide-ranging expressions of profanities. That is until near-heatstroke set in for most of the pack. The trail led along the Sinalei beach to the East, before branching in onto the road - false trail. Then off we tramped through endless steaming plantations. Up and up we went, and a seemingly gentle rise soon slowed down the pack as we realized that this is never going to end! Eventually the path turned West and the trail headed down the slope, and eventually the tired hashers descended on Godfather's sweet nuts and the keg.

In the hash circle there were a large number of newcomers, an international crowd from Hungary, Mexico, Bolivia and Germany. There were also many re-threads who were suitably awarded. Child Endangerment Award went to Godfather and Lewinsky and POD, for managing to lock Happy Feet inside the car with a dog. A further endangerment award came later, due to a projectile vomiting incident on the Savaii ferry that forced COT to take control of Lewinsky's vehicle and drive Happy Feet ashore. Lewinsky should have gotten a double due to his self-exalted fisherman skills. SOTB had new shoes and bravely drank from them, given the size of his blisters from the run. He also got a Furniture Overstayer Award for using Poumuli's garage for the last 5 months. The Germans and the Hungarian were repeatedly challenged to show us how to do a down-down. Nevertheless, Samoan hashers - mainly Kiwi - had the greater speed. BB got awarded for having sexy knees. Wahoo was awarded for something. The Scribe was drunk and his assistant was later reclining dead asleep on a beach chair.

On On,

Poumuli.

Hash Trash - Run #1456

Run number 1456 was held at the Snake Pit in glorious downtown surroundings. It was fitting that Snake had set the run to start through the kitchen of a nearby Chinese restaurant (more on that later). The number of false trails that were included at first delighted then thoroughly ticked off runners and walkers alike. There ought to be a law…

The trail treated us to a great variety of sights, from teeming backyards, steaming rubbish and a teetering walk along the Vailima stream bank towards the bridge by Mulivai where we had a choice of grabbing barbed wire for balance or tottering along on grass covered wobbly rocks. Unfortunately there were no injuries to report. After some road running confusion, eventually the pack made it back to the Snake Pit where POD once again stepped in as Deputy Dawg for the GM (please come back soon, she is trying to kill us all!).

There was one newcomer to Hash, namely a German visitor with Hobbes. She took a voluntary down down as well, but received a few others with the rest of the German speakers for not observing Hash Hush, even after many reminders. I thought they knew how to obey orders in that part of the world… Eugene Sr. also got a down down, but was not sure if he was retread.

A Romeo award was given to Poumuli for whisking Wahoo off on a romantic get-away to Fiji, while Wahoo got the celebrity award due to Le Manumea appearing in a glowing Observer editorial.

SOTB was awarded several proxy awards for Sassygirl (not coming to Hash, observed drinking at HQ1 during Hash run, etc), as well as for advertising the piss-poor SamoaTel. Lewinsky again had a streamlined haircut that according to POD “did not make him GO any faster” [editorial emphasis added], so that was a down down. Gordon Ramsey again nearly volunteered himself for a double down, and AC/DC was involved in several, the reasons for which are unclear, as was the Zorro incidentally. This was after Poumuli had called on Swinger to take up the role of Religious Adviser since he alone in the Hash watched the televised church services, but Poumuli had to share in the award for hypocrisy since he was actually in that televised service.

Kiwi turned up late, nattily attired in his golf gear and had to drink from his gleaming golf shoes as these were new, clean and new to Hash.

Pussysnatcher got the International Women’s Day award for suggesting that his house mate Crown of Thorns could arrange the next Hash when she returns this week.

Hash Run 1455 - 02 Mar 09

Hash Run #1455 will be hosted by AC/DC and Gordon Ramsey in Vailima. Just take Eugene Rd. (next to the Manumea Hotel), look for the second house on the right, and you'll find AC/DC's.
Food will be provided by AC/DC and Gordon Ramsey, so don't worry about bringing food, instead make sure you bring your hash cash..

Also, remember today's run is a theme run. The theme today is "Fairy Run". So come dressed as your favorite fairy (I'm sure FBI will love this) and get ready for another fun run through the jungle.

Slippery Hash #1454 Trash

The run was hosted by Slippery up past the National University of Samoa. AC/DC and Farmer Joe were dispatched as hares, a wee bit late in arriving so the run got off slowly at the direction of POD – standing in as the GM’s Deputy Dawg. The hares did not disappoint as the run went through some great scenery, gardens guarded by vicious mutts and down a slippery pipe. Poumuli went down on his muli, and would have continued if he hadn’t spotted Kiwi going along the side of the pipe. There was a good turnout with lots of new faces, but many of the walkers took a shortcut on-home. Disgraceful.

But not as disgraceful as the hares stealing Happy Feet’s pram for spreading the paper trail.

Click here to view the Hash Run #1454 Photo Album.

POD presided over the hash circle, and dispensed her version of hash justice to various offenders. There were a few newcomers to hash, and a number of re-treads. Gordon Ramsey had earlier volunteered himself for a down down, which POD obliged. Poumuli had written to the papers once again and was awarded for attacking free trade and the World Trade Organization. Several leaners were caught, as well as wearers of shades during the circle. Two new shoes had to drink from their shoes as SOTB had forgotten Das Boot. Delicious has been trying to call her boyfriend when drunk and has got through to SOTB instead, so that warranted a brew. SOTB got one for surfing instead of hashing, and jointly with Poumuli and Sassygirl for not being there for his mum in the hour of need (wiping of sweaty brow). AC/DC had been doing some weird yoga in the yard which also warranted a down down.

The food was an excellent spread put on by Slippery and cooked up in a storm of smoke by Gordon Ramsey, but the keg was kicked at 8.20 PM

On On!

Poumuli.

Hash Trash - Valentines Run @ ACP

Since the Scribe is getting flak left right and center, he thought it best to put together some trash from the Valentines Run held at ACP Vaitele. Thanks to Uncle Fred and the family at ACP for letting us have our hash run at their premises. Uncle Fred Gave the OK for the big 1500 run to be held there again so were definitely looking forward to it.

There were clear instructions last week and on the blog that all hashers were to turn up in red or pink to celebrate Valentines Day..it was shocking to see that only half of the hashers made the effort. Those that did not come in the right colours were given their down downs for their lack of effort.

The run was set on paper, some red, some white, and from the complaints that came through after the run, it was quite a long one.(Poor sods who actually made it)

When the formalities got under way, the pace was set from the first award..there were a hand full of new runners, most of which were only here on holidays and were dragged in by AC/DC and Gordon Ramsey. Some of the mere's didn't want to leave Samoa and SOTB kindly offered his place for them to stay..There was a mix of new runners, from Kiwis, to Poms through to Canadians and one from the Caribbean..not sure if shes Pirate material.

There were a couple of retreads in Kamikaze (dont know his real name but everyone went with Kamikaze) and someone else..i forget.. i blame the lovely alcohol filed lamington.
There were 3 new shoes present at hash. Gordon Ramsey, DJ and Mr Silva. All 3 men did well not to waste the beer while drinking out of their boots.

GM's awards started off with Snake, being on the front page of the Observer with the 14.5 ft sausage..SOTB tried to dob the GM in for his 2 photos on page 4 of the paper but it didn't stick. Underated took a down down for closing down the Curry house for 2 weeks longer than he had advertised..Obviously there were Hashers with a craving for some real curry!
Skanky got slapped with a down down for not wearing Pink when she helped to organise the Valentines hash run.
Michael was nominated for a down down for claiming to be a Virgin (I think there's a movie about this - 40 year old Virgin)
DJ tried to nominate AC/DC for something which ended up backfiring and he ended up with his down down.

Numerous Nominations were thrown all over the place..The scribe got one for finally posting some has trash from the 1450 run. Lewinsky got one for making POD do the speech at Happy Feet's birthday party. Tony Blair handed over 'The Chicken' award to Karaoke because her daughters are now gone and she cant play mother hen anymore. GM recons otherwise..
SOTB nominated one of the new girls from England for having a "dirty nipple"..apparently she hugged a tree during the run..Yeah Right!..

Best dressed award went to the Vet chick (Dammit, forgot your name..im going to stick with the lamington as my excuse) with her Pink dress & matching stockings...
SOTB, Farmer Joe and Crash did a down down for sneaking back to the GM's place last week to finish the 7% keg..unfortunately the other culprits have all gone overseas.

There was a great spread of food which everyone helped with. Being a BYO BBQ, hash pulled through yet again to provide a great feed for the evening and to top it off, there was that "lovely alcohol filled" lamington cake for desert.

A few ended up at HQ but most decided enough was enough when the keg ran out. Great Effort!

Thanks again to the Family at ACP- The Foundation of Samoa (You got a Toyota) for having us over for hash. Thanks to all the Hashers that helped chip in with the BBQ and to everyone that came. Remember next run is Lezzie's Birthday so it should be rather interesting..

Valentines Hash Run 1451 - 9th Feb

Hi Hash Crew,

Next week's Valentines hash run will be at the Apia Concrete Products (ACP) Compound by the warehouse where we usually have it. This is a BYO Run so bring something to throw on the BBQ and as per norm, Hash will provide the drinks and you pay your $15.

Also, since its Valentines, you are required to dress up in a Red or Pink Dress or outfit..and bring your valentine with you..or don't, its up to you.

Map is below for those who haven't been out this way. Thanks again to the ACP Family for allowing us to have our run out here..always a great location to do a hash run!
See you there and be prepared..bring a change of clothes and your best valentines hash outfit!

Hash Trash - Run 1450

G'Day to those of you who have taken the time to read the hash trash, yes, hash trash has been slack over the last few weeks/months..but he has to work too. Today I received a call from the GM requesting hash trash to be posted so here it goes, or what I can remember from that night.

Apia Hash House Harriers held their 1450th Run on the 2nd February 2009 at the GM & Karaoke's Home in Lotopa. There was a great turnout with close to 50 Mad/Keen Hashers present for the celebration. AHHH ordered 2 of the "Special Kegs" aka 7% (as if the normal keg wasn't enough)for this run and boy did they go down well (Thanks Vailima Breweries and our 'Inside Contacts' - Mighty Mouse and Double-D for hooking us up!)

The Run was set by Kiwi and his Son (Sorry, I cant remember his name and no this doesn't warrant a down down for hash trash) who was running late and driving like an F1 Driver trying desperately to get to the GM's place to set the run. We were told it was to be a short run but only a handful made the effort to complete it. The rest decided a short cut was the best option and many returned to base before the Hare's got back.

When the festivities got under way, to many peoples surprise, the GM had invited TV3 and the Samoa Observer to hash to mark this special event. (Truth be told, I think he wanted them there for his birthday- See Samoa Observer Wednesday Paper page 4...he he he) It was great to see Apia Hash present in the Local News on TV3 and in the Observer. As most of us know Hash here in Samoa has been going strong for almost 28 years now. We'd like to extend a Big Fa'afetai to the crew of TV3 and the Samoa Observer for their support.

With the GM handing out a few awards, most hashers were somewhat hesitant to make nominations, possibly due to the fact that the keg was not the norm and that many were probably scared of getting too far to the dark side. There was a bit of rain during the awards but this did not stop the Hashers from having a great time.
Retreads were Crime, Slippery, Enforcer, Rottie, Under Rated, COT, Orgasm...and possibly one or two others...
Orgy Georgy was the only hasher with new shoes and Kiwi filled up his boot to drink from, luckily for Orgy Georgy, his shoes had enough holes for half of the beer to leak out of.
Some of the GM's awards went to Wahoo, who had to drink out of a glass that all the Hash Mere's seem to love..yes, its the 1 Foot long Penis Glass..and Wahoo did well to down her award. AC/DC was handed an award but as he was not drinking, he handed it over to his whipping boy Gordon Ramsey who ended up doing a double as he had his sun glasses firmly attached to his head. Ray Charles was also given a down down but he too handed it off to his whipping boy. (What is wrong with these Hash Men???)
Double D and Mighty Mouse were given awards for helping Provide the 2 special kegs for hash.

There were Hash T-Shirts that had to be given out to those that have completed X number of runs. Rottie, Enforcer, Orgy Georgy, Under Rated were given their T-Shirts along with a down down to celebrate their Runs.

Mustang and Desirable were given a Down Down each as it was also their farewell run. All the best in NZ and don't forget to stop by for a run or two.

Monday's Run was also a special one for our GM who was celebrating his Birthday (Happy Birthday GM) along side with the 1450 Mark. And no that's not his age. In order to celebrate this run, AHHH decided to cook a sausage, that measured out at 14.50 Feet. No need to tell you why they chose 14.50 feet. (This left some hash Mere's overly excited and the hash men were feeling sexually threatened) We believe this is the longest Sausage ever made and cooked in Samoa (What an achievement!) Thanks to the Snake and his team of chefs that cooked the Sausage, it sure was a hand full.

When it came down to the nominations, there were only a few handed out. Most hashers were holding back from being dobbed in for some crime they may have done over the week and during the run. Kiwi was given one for his Formula 1 Driving skills as well as for being the Hare. The GM was nominated for his Birthday and given a down down and his Cake which he happily sunk his teeth into. Tony Blair was handed the Chicken of the Week award and Lezzie was promptly given the Tit of the week award for turning up late to hash...again. A few Hashers got down downs for leaning up against the post and holding up the house.

The Hash Meres (Mustang, Delicious, Desirable, Delectable, Dori, Skanky and Mighty Mouse) made a donation to AHHH by presenting a Drinking Boot - DAS BOOT - Which is a staggering 2L glass - shaped like a boot (Why do I try and explain this?) To thank them, the Boot was filled and they had to down it as a team..which they did rather well. Thanks again Ladies...

The Hash Men and Meres had prepared (or tried to) a small show for each other. The hash men did a Tokelauan Haka that didn't go as well as expected (Camera Shy I guess) With the hash men stripped down to a lava lava, they preformed the haka with the Hash Meres laughing away. The Hash Mere's Preformed a small dance- So long, farewell....which got some of the older hash men excited..AC/DC couldn't control himself and he joined the Mere's in their Dance.

Once the Awards and formalities were done, the food was presented and what a spread! There was an array of great food and it didn't take the Hash group long to get into it. From the 14.5 Foot sausage to the GM's special Bean dish to a lovely spicy oka and faalifu talo (Getting hungry again!) and roast ham, turkey, cakes, salads, you name it..(Be right back, gone to get some food..) A BIG Thank you to the GM & Karaoke for a lovely spread..best hash feed I have ever had...

When the night was over, the hashers moved on to HQ to continue the party to celebrate the 1450 Run...and when the night was over, a little birdy told me that a few hard-core hashers decided to head back to the GM's place to finish off the keg. (Gm at the start of the run said that he wanted the keg finished so those hashers were just following orders)

All in all, it was a great night and a memorable one. Again a big thanks to the GM and Karaoke, Snake and the Chefs, TV3 and Samoa Observer and to all the Hashers that made the effort to come down to hash..great to see you all there still supporting AHHH. If I have forgotten anything, oh well, I may have to take a down down for it next week but for now..ON ON!

GM's Valentines Day Message

Greetings again from the Hash Mismanagement crew. Hope your New Year’s resolutions are still on track. What? .. you haven’t started yet? Well, not to worry, 2009 is just started. Just the fact that you’ve made the effort to generate a new years resolution says to me that you are now on the right track and you are facing the right direction. Just because you’re not moving is a minor detail that can easily be remedied. Forget the doomsday sayers who say that it’s the same resolution for the last 7 years!! To them I say the fact that you’ve got the bat in your hands and you’ve stepped up to the plate swinging is more important. And as sure as the night follows day, you will eventually hit the ball. You have to – it’s the law of the universe. You have the GMs word on it.

Maybe the seventh year is when you will hit the ball clear out of the park.

OK enough of that so I can get on with the business at hand. Many of you, maybe all of you might be surprised to know that Valentines Day is one of the GMs favourite days of the year. I know it’s hard to believe that behind this hard-as-rock exterior and behind this solid one pack and buns of steel is a romantic core. But its true and to understand this seeming paradox you’d have to go back just a few years ago when the GM was a young stud (he’s still a stud but just not as young). I’m only relating this story because there is a point to be made from it.

Anyway, back to the story.

One winter day I partied late into the night. The next day I woke up late so I rushed around trying to get ready for work. So right off the bat, I had started my day off on the wrong foot. And as is generally the case, as the day wore on, it got worse. Anyway, I walked out the front door to find three feet of snow on the ground. So I went back into the house, put on my rubber boots and my gloves, and went outside to shovel my driveway so I could drive to work. After 45 minutes I got the driveway cleared. So I jumped into my car and rushed off to get to work as fast as I could go, even though I was already over two hours late. Halfway to work I discovered that I still had my rubber boots on, so now I’ll have to wear rubber boots all day at work. In addition, I had forgotten my employee badge so now I would have to call my boss to come down and sign me in, something he does not like to do. Before I had even gotten to work, I’m already in a bad mood and it was shaping up to be a really bad day.

About a quarter mile from work, I drove by one of my co-worker’s house. I always drive by her house because I had the hots for her. She had an ass that just wouldn’t quit. When I passed her house I looked over and saw her car stuck on the side of her driveway with the hood open, so I stopped to see if she needed help. She had driven off the driveway and gotten stuck, then killed her battery trying to restart the car.

This was just the break I was hoping for. In about ten seconds I had her car back on the driveway and the car running again. She insisted she buy me lunch to repay me and of course I accepted, after a very weak attempt at rejecting.

There’s a lot more to this story but I’m going to stop here because I can now make my point. And here it is. From the time I woke up to then, I had been having a real bad day and I had already made up my mind that the day was not going to get any better. But after she asked me to lunch something amazing happened. My day made a complete turn around and within minutes my entire outlook on life had made a complete U-turn.

I went from low as dirt to flying high on cloud nine. I didn’t even mind my boss chewing me out for forgetting my badge and I almost enjoyed wearing my rubber boots at work. The thing is, my day was still the same day and many other things went wrong, but do you think for one moment that it got me down… no way Hosay. I was flying high all that day and of course all night too!! But let’s not go there.

The moral of the story is this – the proclamation that love makes the world go round is as true as it comes. So what am I saying here. OK, here it is. If you want to have a super day, if you want to be in a good mood all day, you’ve got to inject some love and romance into your life. Do something for the love of your life and happiness will be knocking at your front door before you know it

So for Valentines Day this year, why don’t you make it a little more special. How do you do that you ask? Here’s a yardstick you can use. Seven years from now, (that too long?) OK, how about six months from now, will they remember what happened on Valentines Day? If it can withstand the test of time then I say, you’re on the right track. If there’s one thing that can be called the kiss-of-death in love and romance its BOREDOM. Believe me when I say that because I’m taking that directly out of Eveready’s Book of Love. I’m talking from experience here folks (maybe someday I’ll tell you the story behind that ).

Hundreds and thousands of people through the ages have spent entire fortunes looking for the elixir of life. Well look no further my hash friends the GM can sum it up in one word… LOVE. So make love work for you. Use it to your gain, that’s what its there for. Let it bring you happiness. Let it give you a high no drugs can touch. As Skanky put it so eloquently, let it put butterflies in your bosom. Put the pedal to the medal; no speed limits where you’re going.

In love and romance, time invested is never time wasted.

So good luck and may you drown in the sea of love.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY.

PS: If this prescription doesn’t work for you, don’t call the GM, he’ll be too busy executing his own Valentines Day plan. Lets see, V drinks – check, whipped cream – check, AA batteries – check, handcuffs - check, check, check. OK, The Love Boat is ready to sail!!

Hash Trash 1447b

It was another extremely wet and rainy day out at Lewisky and POD’s in Taumesina. The run on paper was set by SOTB and Kiwi, who neglected to say that it was going to be an A to B run with a ride back in Kiwi’s truck. Weather and the conditions caused many to short-cut it back as a result, including a handily twisted ankle for Lewinsky. Only a few die hards made it to the truck at the golf course in Fagalii, but were then so wet and cold that they ran back to base anyway. John and Poumuli were the last to return.

Hash circle was presided over by POD (Deputy Dawg?) and she did a great job controlling the increasingly boisterous gang. One newbie was introduced- Shannon. There were also a number of retreads – Lezzie, FBI, AC/DC, etc.

Several innovative awards were given – Selena for starting up a cocktail function each month that would rival HQ1, Tala for not waiting for a cigar cutter and instead biting off the end, and FBI had to drink from Snake’s shoe. Media award went to Poumuli for a letter to the Editor, and drank alone as Pussy Snatcher was absent for his story in the paper. John had to take Godfather’s down down due to the resemblance of their hairstyles or lack thereof. The girls did several down downs for unmentionable acts. SOTB got a down down for accepting fan mail from a whole boys’ jazz band, and dragged Poumuli into the front and center for being ungrateful. Mr. Whippy received an honorary one on behalf of his Mum’s appearance in the news (palagi with a Samoan heart).

The Hash Monk appeared for a naming ceremony and we now have a newly named addition in Lewinsky’s sister, now known as Pro Boner.

The hares and the hosts completed the ceremony, and yet another great feast was consumed. Big thanks again to POD, Lewinsky, Pro Boner and Happy feet for another great run...
Look forward to seeing you all next week, hopefully it doesn't rain!

Hash Trash- Run 1447 (a)

The run was set by Kiwi and SOTB using Kiwi’s chariot. It was absolutely pissing cats and dogs, so the pack was quickly loosing the trail of paper. Lewinsky and John led the way down a short-cut for the on-home, and blamed Poumuli for the crime for which he got a down down. There was one newbie to the Hash – Tala. Many re-treads as well – POD, Happy Feet, Snakebite, Venom, Fang, Tony Blair, Selena and Ladesha. In the circle the GM apportioned many awards to the wayward girls for their cooking skills (lack thereof – Desirable), staying up all hours (Delicious) and for poor harmonizing (Skankanavian and Desirable). Tony Blair got an award for not protecting the family jewels while climbing over his own fence. John got a Casanova award for leing (sic) 4 girls in one night. A few bruises on Tala’s leg resulted in a wife-beater award to the much-maligned Poumuli. Lewinsky got several well-deserved awards for being quarrelsome and cheap. After Kiwi took the hare’s down down a fine BBQ was consumed. The only downside was the lack of a keg and the beer ran out too early.

GM's Christmas Message 2008

Season's greetings to all hash members here in Samoa as well as overseas. The holiday season is upon us again and the start of another year is right around the corner. This is a wonderful time of the year and I hope we don't get too carried away with the mechanics and logistics of everything and forget the enjoyment side. Please take time to enjoy the wonderful xmas music, the delightful xmas lights, the many parties where we can meet old friends and acquaintances. Please renew and treasure your friendships. It's one of the most precious gifts we can have in this world. That is one of the main reasons Hash means so much to me personally.

When I came to samoa 10 years ago, after being away for many years, I didn't know very many people. All my friends from when I was 17 years old have died, were in jail, or have been kidnapped by aliens. Then I joined Hash and I immediately had 20 friends to my name.

A year ago, Karaoke and I went to Australia and I ended up in the hospital emergency room. The doctors there said that I shouldn't even be alive, but by some miracle I made it through. When I got home I decided to celebrate my second chance at life, so I made a list of all my friends to invite to my back-from-the-dead party. When I looked at the list, 90% of them were hashers! That's when it hit me just how much hash means to me.

As I reflect upon 2008, I realize that in the hash world, a lot has happened. Here's a few highlights that I can think of from the top of my head.
  • Lewinsky and POD get married and Happy Feet joins the hash family
  • Jazz festival hosted by Hash which resulted in a monetary donation to FLO organization
  • Australian Navy Hash run that resulted in Kuini's hash name
  • Melborne Cup run and hat competition with the GM taking top honors for his outrageous helmet
  • Halloween run and costume competition with Tony Blair and Selina winning the top prize in their Robin Hood and maid Marion outfit.
  • Thanksgiving run and turkey dinner
  • Cinco De Mayo run
  • Shafter's untimely death and funeral
A quick glance back and a few new hash names jump up
If that's not the craziest bunch of names for hashers then I don't know what is.

I know there are a lot more events and incidences worthy of mention but my excuse is that I only took over as GM in July; before that my records are not too good. All the above mentioned highlights have been happy and joyous ones except for one. I'm sure you all know that as the untimely passing of our brother Shafter. As far as I can recall, this is the first time hash has been this heavily involved in a hash member funeral. This funeral was a little different in that from the very start, it was planned not so much as a cause for sadness and mourning but as a celebration of a well lived life. This event really brought the hash family closer together and it brought out the best in all of us.

For 2009, lets all look forward and help support these theme runs for the near future.

Jan. Australia Day and 1450 run

Feb. GM's birthday party run (age not important)

Mar. St. Patrick's day run (corn beef run)

Apr. Easter run

May Cinco De Mayo run (Mexican food run)

Jun. GM's farewell run (hooray!!)

One of my New Year's resolution is to be the best GM I can be. I will try my best to make hash not only a fun but also an exciting outing. I'm always open to new ideas and constructive critizisms (but not too many). I'm sure with your help and support we can all have lots of fun at hash. What do you say we make 2009 even better then 2008. I think I did mention it before but I'd like to repeat it here that the theme for my administration is "PARTY HARD OR GO HOME"

And if I haven't told you before I'm telling you now. THANK YOU to each and everyone of you for all you've done for hash in general and the GM in particular. I really didn't want the GM job because I didn't think a non-drinking and non-running hasher should be a GM. I took the job hoping you would support me but you have not only supported me but you have accepted me and for that I will always be grateful. A special thank you should be given here for my beautiful sidekick Karaoke for the unwavering support she has given me. Truth be told, I couldn't do half the stuff I've done without her help and support. (Karaoke, I'll drink from your shoe anytime!!)

Finally, I want to ask for your forgiveness. In the performance of my GM duties and in my efforts to improve hash, I know I probably offended or stepped on a few toes, maybe even all the toes at one time or another. Please know that none of my actions are ever intended to offend anyone. What do you say we bury the hatchet and start over again with the new year? Lets not look back to past indiscretions cause it will only give us a stiff neck. If you can forgive and forget, I give you a solemn promise as your GM that many many down downs will surely come your way!!

From the GM and the entire mismanagement crew, I want to wish all the hash family (especially our members who are overseas for the holidays or who have moved overseas) a very merry Christmas and a very happy New Year where ever you may be. May the force be with you!!

On On from the GM

PS: Please take care of yourselves this holiday season so that we can hash together again in 2009.

Remember: If you lose your fame and fortune, you've lost nothing
But if you lose your friends and your health, you've lost everything.

Christopher Alan York Hewson

Sunrise – 7th October 1946

Sunset – 11th November 2008

We are all travelers in the wilderness of the world, and the best that we can find in our travels is an honest friend. (Robert Louis Stevenson)
It is with heartfelt gratitude that we acknowledge our families and friends for your condolences and extension of sympathy for our family for the loss of our father, loving partner and a best friend to all the hashers; Christopher Alan York Hewson also known as Shafter or Drafter by old hashers.

Thank you for your prayers, condolences, messages of sympathy, your comforting company, your humor when at times we feel as if we are alone and assistance; be it financial or in kind; we thank you for your compassion and generosity.

We thank you especially for all the work, time and monetary contributions that you all put in to build his final resting place at Vailele Cemetery and to help us with his funeral arrangements. Please know that it has meant a lot to me and the family.

Faafetai, faafetai faafetai tele lava.

Perhaps you sent a lovely card; or sat quietly in a chair
Perhaps you sent a floral piece; if so we saw it there
Perhaps you spoke; the kindest words as any friend could say
Perhaps you were not there at all; just thought of us that day
Whatever you did to console our hearts
We thank you so much; whatever the part.
We are now back in Auckland and we look forward to seeing you all next time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and may we also take this opportunity to wish you all hash men and meres of the Apia Hash House Harriers back home and overseas a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2009.

Single Hashers that are "cooking challenged" need not worry, Karaoke has some easy off-the-shelf dishes you can bring; just give her a ring.
